A big thank you to all who came to Free Center this past Friday, June 21, for Make Music Hartford! We had some incredible live performances from 5 local artists:
Singer-songwriter Petrina Robinson, a college freshman, performed a range of covers, from Elvis to Bruno Mars, and multiple originals.
Ashley Hamel, a singer-songwriter, improviser, and “wizard rocker” performed songs from her first album WZRD, a wizard rock concept album that takes place in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Her music is available on all platforms including Bandcamp.
Alex Forest, a country singer-songwriter, sang mashups of popular country and hip-hop, covers and multiple originals. His debut EP: L.O.V.E with songs about breakups, hometowns and crappy cars can be found on all platforms or on his website.
Young singer-songwriter and poet, Kunzika, performed original heartfelt songs accompanied by a ukulele and spoken word poetry. Topics included gender identity, acceptance, and self-discovery. Their music can be found on their SoundCloud and Facebook.
And lastly, punk-rock garage band, Hour Three, composed of four high school students closed out the day. Originals, as well as a few covers, were performed. Their first single is out now on Spotify.
Visitors to Free Center were also able to enjoy the PRIDE community art exhibit on display and browse the book and DVD selection in the Hartford Public Library Book Mobile! Thank you to the Greater Hartford Arts Council for working with so many people across the city to make this awesome day happen!
