HUMAN RIGHTS INSTITUTE
The Human Rights Institute (HRI) offers a unique contextual and interdisciplinary approach to human rights research, pedagogy and practice that encourages scholars and advocates to exchange knowledge and experience. Their joint faculty is appointed in partnership with departments across the University.
This inclusive framing of human rights required a brand that helped present the subject in a more accessible and relatable way, making it a natural component of a broader conversation. A conscious commitment was made not to motivate through the depiction of suffering, but by honoring the strength of human dignity that the discipline advances.
Since we developed the HRI brand, CO:LAB has been working with the Institute to advance this approach across key communications (web and print) and major events (annual conferences and prominent lectures). A staple of this effort has been to convey that human rights is not just an “over there” issue, but something that affects each of us in numerous ways.
